What is Speak From Beyond, and how does it work?

Speak From Beyond is a safe and secure digital storage company that enables our members to store important information and digital files, which are accessible exclusively by the member’s chosen trusted recipients upon their passing. Members can store a variety of documents and important information, including life insurance policies, photos, cell phone passcodes, important letters, and virtually any other type of digital file.

How do I edit my bio and personal account information details?

On the profile page, there is an edit profile button located under the welcome title and member's display name. Click that button to be directed to your account page, where you have the ability to update your bio and other personal details.

What is a trusted recipient?

Trusted recipients are individuals selected by you who will be granted access to view your Speak From Beyond membership account following your passing. It is essential that members inform their chosen trusted recipients of this designation, ensuring they understand their role in accessing the member's profile after the member's death. Please note that trusted recipients will not have access to the Speak From Beyond membership account or any stored digital files until verification of death is confirmed. Once death has been confirmed, Speak From Beyond will provide access to the individuals designated as trusted recipients by the member.

How will a trusted recipient know they have been chosen?

The member is responsible for informing their trusted recipient(s) that they have been selected to gain access to the member’s account after their passing. Please note that Speak From Beyond does not reach out to notify selected recipients of their designation.

How does a recipient receive access to a member’s account after a member’s death?

It is extremely important that members let the recipients know that he/she has been chosen and trusted to access our member’s profile upon a member’s death. Recipients will need to be informed to contact Speak From Beyond once a member’s death has occurred. Once Speak From Beyond confirms a member’s death through various confirmation checks the recipient will receive an email, text or call with instructions on how to create a new password for the deceased member’s account allowing the recipient access to the deceased member’s complete profile including all files.

How long does it take for Speak From Beyond to confirm a death

When a recipient informs us that a death has occurred we begin our death confirmation process within 24 hours of receiving the message. Allow us 1-5 weeks to confirm a death. The amount of time it takes to confirm a death depends on when a recipient receives an official death certificate. Once a death is confirmed recipients will receive an email, call or text with instructions on how to access the member’s digital vault.

How is a death confirmed?

A death is confirmed by either mailing an official death certificate to Speak From Beyond or by phone confirmation with the funeral home the deceased member is being prepared. We do not accept digital images or copies of a death certificate.

Does anyone have access to view a member’s files while he or she is alive?

No one has access to a member’s profile except the member. Speak From Beyond or any other individuals do not have access to a member’s uploaded files. Only the member can access his or her files.

What happens after a recipient accesses a member’s profile after a death?

The recipient will have access to all of the deceased member’s files. A member’s profile will remain active until no payment has been received to keep the account current or a trusted recipient decides to close the deceased member’s account. Member’s files will not be saved once the account is closed. We highly recommend recipients download the members’s files to his or her trusted devices to save for future viewing and/or listening.

Can I change my trusted recipients after I have designated them?

Yes, you can change your trusted recipients at any time. The contact information for your trusted recipients is stored within your membership profile. Upon your passing, we will contact the recipients you have listed at that time. You can add or delete recipients whenever you feel it is necessary. The individuals on your trusted recipients list at the time of your passing will be granted access to your membership profile.

What happens if I pass away without designating a trusted recipient?

You must designate one or more recipients; otherwise, your important digital files will not be accessible. You have to let your chosen recipients know that he or she has been selected. Inform your recipients to contact Speak From Beyond upon your passing; otherwise, your digital files may never be discovered.

How do I ensure my account remains active?

To ensure your account remains active, please keep in mind that if a payment to maintain your membership is more than 60 days overdue, your account will be deleted along with all associated information and digital files, and this data cannot be restored.

Can I provide instructions for my trusted recipients?

Visit the Speak From Beyond homepage, where you will find a button labeled "A Death Has Taken Place." Click this button to be directed to our instructions page, which provides guidance on how to access the member's profile page and all associated digital files.

What file formats do you accept

Speak From Beyond accepts most file codec formats for uploading. If there is an issue uploading a file please contact a Speak From Beyond representative to resolve the issue.
